Year 4 Learning

Academic Year 2024-2025

Roman Day

The children thoroughly enjoyed Roman Day. They were fully immersed in the Roman experience for a whole day. They were able to dress up and spend time creating Roman-themed tasks such as mosaic tiles, olive oil for oil burners, creating their own ink and more! Some of them even got a look into what it was like to train as a Roman soldier.

RE

The children in Year 4 enjoyed a visit to a local church, which provided a valuable opportunity to enhance their learning. The trip allowed the children to explore the history, architecture and cultural significance of the church, linking to their learning in RE. By observing the church's features and learning about its role in the community, the children gained a deeper understanding of different beliefs and traditions. This visit supported their development of respect for diversity and provided a hands-on experience that complemented their classroom learning, helping to bring their studies to life.

Geography

In the Autumn term, Year 4 visited the Chalk Pits in Cherry Hinton to observe the changes that have happened over time. We explored why the Chalk Pits were used and we found out they were a quarry to extract chalk. This was then used to build some of the Cambridge Colleges!
