Volunteering

We have many parent helpers in school helping class teachers in a variety of ways– the list is endless! Your time and talents are always greatly valued by staff.

We believe that our school should be open and welcoming to all who would like to support the children. We want to ensure that volunteers are welcomed and valued as members of the school community.

At the Queens Federation we have an over-riding duty for the safety of the children in our care. In accordance with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ we ask volunteers to read ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ September 2025 Part 1, and ‘What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused 2015’. Volunteers are also required to complete and submit 3 online forms, provide contact details for two referees (not family members) and agree to be subject to a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check which will be carried out by the school.

We would ask that you commit to coming into school at least twice a year every year that your child is attending the school. This could be to listen to readers, helping with photocopying, putting up displays or accompanying a class on school trips.

If you would like to become a Volunteer, please email the office and you will be sent the links to the online forms that you need to complete in order for a DBS check to be run for you. Only when the DBS check is completed and the school have a copy of your DBS certificate, can a parent then be eligible to volunteer.

Your help and support are hugely welcome and will make a real difference to the children at our school. We shall look forward to receiving your application and welcoming you into our community.
