Year 3 Information
Please download our Information Booklet to find out more about the routines and expectations in Year 3. You may also wish to take a look at the Y3 Curriculum Map, which shows you the topics we will be covering in different subjects over the course of the year. Please do talk to us if you would like more information.
We are keen for parents to support the children’s learning at home as much as possible. To help you do this, we produce a termly information sheet, outlining our main topics and giving suggestions for how you might follow them up at home:
KS2 Sports Day
KS2 Sports day was a great afternoon. Everyone tried their best and ran, hopped, cycled and much more. Well done everyone.

World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, all pupils at Queen Edith dressed up as animals! Look below at some of our lovely photos.
We all linked our English work to the book Welcome by Barroux. Reception children made their own islands inspired by those in the book. Year 1 designed a welcoming place for the monkeys from the story to stay in. Year 4 wrote inner monologues imagining that they were in that situation. Later Years pupils looked at Welcome and also Leaf, The Day War Came, The Island and The Arrival and found out about refugees around the world before writing diary entries, imagining that they were in that situation.
Year 3, Year 4
Years 3 and 4 Treasure Chest Cuboids
Children from Year 3 and Year 4 have combined learning maths with our pirate-themed production to produce treasure chests. The 3D shape of a treasure chest is a cuboid, so we cut out a net, then folded and glued the flaps carefully. We decorated our cuboids to look like treasure chests.
Here are some photos of the class drawing around each other and drawing in their internal organs! It was huge fun, now we just have to add the bones!

Netherhall Cross Country Competition
It was a beautiful day for the Cross Country competition held at Netherhall school on Friday 30th November. Attending the event were runners from years 3 to 6, with separate races for boys and girls. It was wonderful to see the team spirit of Queen Edith, who represented the school brilliantly, and persevered to run the 1500m course. A huge well done to all of the children selected to run and an extra special congratulations must go to Josiah and Emma for bringing back a gold medal!
Year 3, Year 6
Year 6 have paired up with a buddy from Year 3 to enjoy books. The Year 3’s have enjoyed reading to the older children and, in turn, the Year 6’s have felt very responsible being allowed to write in their reading records – even awarding house points! We’re looking forward to some more lovely times working together!
